Basildon Mural

Spanish artist Marina Capdevila in collaboration with Peaceful Place created this artwork to celebrate the older generation in all their glory! Drawing inspiration from her own grandmother, Marina works to disrupt the traditional perception of the elderly in public spaces. Through art, she communicates the desire we all share in reaching old age with full vitality.

Things made public community partner, Peaceful Place is a members-led charity, made up of people of working age diagnosed with dementia. Their aim is to develop new friendships through shared experiences and support each other to continue using the skills and talents from their many and varied lives.

This mural was created through a series of workshops with Peaceful Place, reflecting on the experiences of this wonderful group to create a celebratory mural of the residents in town.
