The Story

1
Learn about colour & share their stories
In one jam-packed workshop, we explored colour, history, and storytelling. Through engaging conversations, shared memories, and creative activities, the women learned about colour theory and created their own mood boards to express their ideas.

2
Co-Creating
the Design
Rose brought together all the participants' ideas, stories, and voices into one cohesive design. The artwork beautifully reflects the ever-changing local area and everything the community holds dear

3
Bringing it
to Life
Across 5 days of dedicated painting, Rose brought the participants' vision to life on the Stanwell Rose Community Centre wall. With a celebration of everyone's creativity on the last day of painting

About Our Design
This collaborative effort beautifully captures the spirit, history, and defining features of our community through the eyes of its residents.

This collaborative effort captures the spirit, history, and defining features of our community through the eyes of its residents. Our recent A2Dominion workshop brought together 14 creative participants to develop a unique collection of design motifs that celebrate their local identity and environment.
The artwork reflects a diverse array of inspirations across key themes:
-
Local Landmarks & Architecture: Participants drew heavy inspiration from their built environment. The design features the façade of the community centre, a church with a crooked steeple, and a uniquely detailed "Tint house" boasting blue and cream stripes with contrasting windows. Other recognisable architectural nods include a local garage, a classic telephone box, St. Anne's well with its stone wall, and the local reservoir.
-
The Stanwell Rose & Nature: A prominent, recurring motif across the designs is the Stanwell Rose, elegantly intertwined with vines.
-
Community Heritage: The design pays homage to local culture and history, incorporating elements like a Bow wagon, references to the traveling community, and industrial cogs bearing the "Stanwell" name.
-
Abstract & Graphic Elements: Interwoven with the local landmarks are bold graphic choices, including colourful stars, geometric patterns, and pastel red, pink, green and blue colour palettes
