There’s something special that happens when you bring people together to create. Ideas flow, connections spark, and a blank wall becomes a canvas for a community’s stories. That’s exactly what happened in our recent collaboration with A2Dominion’s Community Investment Team!

A smiling woman, Rose, founder of Co-Creative Connection, in a red dress stands in front of a colourful mural with geometric shapes including circles, half circles, rectangles and stars, as well as a section with three shapes resembling lamps, with text "THE INNOVATION LAB" in a ray of light underneath

A Workshop Full of Energy and Ideas

We kicked off this project with a free community workshop, and the response was incredible! Every space was filled, with another 27 people on the waiting list hoping to join. The room was alive with colour, creativity, and conversation as local residents explored their stories, voices, and visions for the mural.

What made the workshop so special was the mix of people, families, children, adults of different ages, all bringing their unique perspectives to the table. Together, they created bold patterns, meaningful designs, and bright ideas that would later come to life on the wall.

Rose smiles as she watches a woman and a young girl work on their art at a table filled with colourful pens and paper. Bright room with a round window in the background.

Turning Community Voices into a Mural

After the workshop, I gathered all of the amazing contributions and began the exciting process of weaving them into a single design. Each artwork and idea was considered, and the final mural became a reflection of the community who helped shape it.

Over several days, I brought the design to life inside the A2Dominion office. With brushes, colour palettes, and plenty of energy, the wall transformed into a vibrant piece of art that celebrates the voices and visions of the people it represents.

Rose kneels as she paints a colourful mural with geometric patterns and logo/text "Co-Creative Connection" and "The Innovation Lab." on another section of the mural. Rose is painting a section yellow, and the mural includes colours like pink, red, green, yellow and blue. Vibrant and creative scene.

The Big Reveal

And now… the mural is finished! ✨

What was once a blank wall is now a bright, welcoming artwork that not only transforms the space but also carries the pride and creativity of everyone involved. Walking into the office, you’re immediately greeted with colour and character, a reminder of what’s possible when people come together to co-create.

The full mural with (on the left) rectangular shapes around the border in a range of pink shades and blue shades. In the middle are circular shapes. On the right side of the mural there is three lamp shape-resembling objects, with three light streaks coming out of the middle one. Inside the streaks are confetti and stars, and one has the words “THE INNOVATION LAB” inside.

Why It Matters

This project is about more than paint on a wall. It’s about:

  • Celebrating local voices and showing people that their ideas matter.

  • Building connections between residents, families, and generations.

  • Transforming spaces into something meaningful, uplifting, and uniquely theirs.

The mural is a daily reminder of community pride and creativity, and it continues to brighten the A2Dominion Staines office for years to come.

Let’s Create Together

We’re so proud of this project and grateful to everyone who joined in. A massive thank you to A2Dominion’s Community Investment Team and to every resident who contributed their ideas and energy.

At Co-Creative Connection, we believe that art is most powerful when it’s created with communities, not just for them.
