Can projects be tailored to different budgets?

At Co-Creative Connection, one of the questions we're asked most often is whether community art projects can be adapted to suit different budgets.

The simple answer? Absolutely!

Meaningful, inclusive, creative projects should be accessible to everyone, regardless of financial limitations. While larger budgets allow for expansive murals, multiple workshops, progression videos, in-depth impact reports and intricate installations, incredible things can happen on smaller scales too. It’s all about thoughtful planning and always placing people at the heart of the process.

It’s not about size it’s about connection

Whether a project involves a 30-metre mural or a series of small pop-up workshops, the emphasis is always on collaboration, creativity, and community ownership.

A smaller budget might mean focusing on smaller walls, condensing the number of workshops, or simplifying the final outputs but the heart and impact of the project remain the same.

We work closely with partners to explore what’s possible within their resources, offering flexible options that maximise impact without compromising spirit.

This might include:

  • Hosting one creative session instead of a series

  • Scaling designs to fit smaller spaces

  • Streamlining documentation (e.g., no full impact report)

  • Opting out of a progression video showing your contribution

  • You providing materials, printed worksheets, and support staff

Community-led creativity is powerful at every level

Regardless of budget, the impact is real.

The key is creating opportunities for people to come together, share ideas, and see themselves reflected in their local spaces.

It’s about celebrating stories, strengthening connections, and leaving a legacy however big or small the project may be.

Making it free and accessible for participants

One of the most important aspects of our approach is ensuring projects are free for participants and the wider community.

We work in partnership with councils, organisations, and funders who cover project costs, so local residents can take part without financial barriers and all materials provided.

Everyone deserves the chance to express their creativity and feel connected to their local area without worrying about affordability.

A flexible, collaborative process

At CCC, adaptability is key.

Every project begins with a conversation to understand your aims, your community’s needs, your space, and your resources.

From there, we shape a proposal that fits your budget and values, offering creative, clear options to bring it to life.

Because ultimately, it’s not about how much you have to spend it’s about what you can create together.
